Gertie was brought to a local shelter with a hip injury. She was scheduled to go to an outdoor home after she recovered, and we agreed to foster her until then. Her hip injury healed, but she developed a problem with her right front leg and she wasn’t able to put weight on it.  The vet said she would probably not recover the use of her leg. Since she was no longer a candidate for an outdoor home, we agreed to keep her. Gertie is feral and she is afraid of humans. We love her anyway and we hope she will eventually be able to trust us. Gertie has formed a bond with Mac, and you can often see them sharing a cat bed or walking together outside.
